Cycling in the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut Adventure Region

From the Glockner Bike Path in the valley, all the way to stunning alpine views of the Hohe Tauern:

cycling at its best in Heiligenblut am Grossglockner As we cruise along the smoothly-paved Glockner Bike Path at a leisurely pace, we take the time to look around and survey the incredible mountain landscape that surrounds us. Earlier this morning, we took our bikes on a bus to the upper part of the Moell Valley. Now we are able to benefit from the gently descending bike path, allowing us to comfortably coast along and enjoy the ride. The views are awesome.

Earlier that day, we looked around the world-famous pilgrimage church in Heiligenblut, with its stunning architecture and impressive examples of historical religious art. Now its beauty is matched by the wonders of nature as far as the eye can see. We stop off for some quick refreshments, just before the 75km-long Glockner Bike Path joins up with the ‘Drauradweg’ bike path – it’s pretty tempting to just keep on pedalling…

Heiligenblut am Grossglockner offers cycling opportunities for all preferences and abilities – whether you feel like a real athletic challenge, or simply some leisurely excursions on two wheels. Take a look at our Cycling and Mountain Biking Repertoire – whichever route you choose, the views will leave you utterly amazed.

Glockner Bike Path: cycling the length of the Moell Valley

Although the high-alpine landscape is what characterises our region, you don’t have to scale these mountains in order to enjoy them. Families in particular love the Glockner Bike Path Nr. R8 , which runs all the way through the visually stunning Moell Valley – starting at the Jungfernsprung waterfall outside of Heiligenblut, and eventually joining the Drauradweg bike path near Möllbrücke. Along the way you’ll be treated to the most breathtaking views of the Hohe Tauern mountains, starting with the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. The almost 80-km route also passes some of the region’s best attractions, exhibitions and museums:
