Mountaineering & summit victories in the Großglockner/Heiligenblut adventure area

Summit victories on the highest mountains in the country - mountaineering in Heiligenblut am Großglockner in the Hohe Tauern National Park

If it's possible, then it's possible. We've often thought about it, but now it really is time to stand on the summit of Austria's highest mountain ourselves. We meet up with our mountain guide at the Salmhütte. The tension of the upcoming tour is written all over everyone's face. We start our tour at a leisurely pace. Via climbing passages and after a short glacier crossing, we reach the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte - our refuge for the night.

Not much sleep. 1. because of the high altitude, 2. because of the ascent to the summit. The weather couldn't be better, and it somewhat disguises the steep firn field of the Glocknerleitel, which we routinely ascend. The calmness of the mountain guide is transferred to all of us and we don't even notice how challenging the climbing passages over the Kleinglockner to the beautiful, golden summit cross are. And then we reach the top, fall into each other's arms and have made it - we are standing together on the highest peak in the country, the majestic Grossglockner!

The Großglockner myth - 3.798 m

No question, it is the subject of many dreams, a myth and a coveted destination for many mountaineers, the Großglockner with Austria's highest peak at 3,798 m above sea level. Have you already lived the dream of climbing the Grossglockner? Then it's time. The summit tour starting from Heiligenblut is long, steep and exposed, but by no means impossible. In two days, you too can manage the 1,800 m ascent to the golden summit cross. A real treat for experienced alpinists, but if you don't have much alpine experience, you should definitely book a mountain guide for the tour to the Großglockner.

Heiligenblut climbing park - Best preparation for the high mountains

The Heiligenblut climbing park offers a great combination of high ropes course, climbing wall, playground and gastronomy. Together with the climbing wall, the high ropes course offers plenty of opportunities to test your head for heights and surefootedness. In the Möllschlucht via ferrata , experts can show what they are made of. With two levels of difficulty, it's a case of bundling up your strength, putting one foot in front of the other and not looking down. Gasthof Sonnblick awaits its guests with rental equipment, hot food and a large playground for young and old mountaineers.

Well managed is half the battle

Do you have big plans in and around Heiligenblut and want to enjoy some very special mountain experiences? Then join a mountain guide or a guided mountain tour in the Hohe Tauern.
