Grossglockner Mountain Run

Austria's highest mountain - the Grossglockner - beckons with its beauty and challenge. Face up to nature and your body. Run through the Hohe Tauern nature reserve and experience the breathtaking landscape of the Grossglockner up close. Everyone who takes part in this mountain run is a winner!

Grossglockner Mountain Run

The selective route of the Grossglockner Mountain Run leads through all levels of alpine vegetation - from the cultivated alpine landscape to the high alpine glacier region. After the start, the route runs through the village to the head of the Heiligenblut valley. It then heads towards the Sattelalm and on to the Briccius Chapel. The longest glacier in the Eastern Alps, the Pasterze, is reached via the Trogalm. After a distance of 13 kilometers and 1,494 vertical meters, the finish is at the Kaiser Franz-Josefs-Höhe.

Mountain running arena Heiligenblut

You can measure your time on two routes. Since 2016, there has been permanent timekeeping on the original competition route to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. You can run your own private mountain running race on the original route. Since summer 2018, you can also measure your time along the hiking trail on the "Naturgerfahrentrail" between the Rossbach middle station and the Schareck mountain station. In between, there are 900 meters of the finest mountain running trail, which not only measures your time, but also spoils you with wonderful nature and great views.
